The Flexcrash project was presented during the webinar “Lightweight Aluminium Manufacturing for Automotive Applications” organised by the FLAMINGo project and celebrated on 17th of June 2024.
Sergi Parareda, project’s technical coordinator and researcher at the Metallic and Ceramic Materials Unit of Eurecat, delivered the presentation “The new generation of crash-tolerant structures”, introducing Flexcrash as a key European mobility and automotive project, aimed at manufacturing the new generation of crash-tolerant structures made of green aluminium.
The presentation offered a general overview about the project, its consortium and the expected benefits of the solutions to be developed. Additionally, the presentation included a detailed explanation of the Flexcrash front crash structure concept highlighting the motivation and requirements, the measurement parameters and the demonstrator definition.

On the other hand, the webinar counted on the participation of representatives from SALEMA and Fatigue4Light two Flexcrash sister projects working on innovative solutions to promote a more sustainable and lighter automotive industry.
The FLAMINGo project proposes a novel industrial manufacturing route for the efficient production of high-performance lightweight aluminium composite materials thanks to a novel metallurgical and forming combined approach for making automotive parts for Green Vehicles.
