The FlexCrash project was presented at ForschungsForum 2025, the research forum for Austria’s Universities of Applied Sciences, held in Vienna on May 7–8, 2025. As part of the Leading Edge Research Programs, the event brings together institutions from across the country to showcase applied research with real-world impact.
Deepak Dhungana, project partner and Head of Institute Digitalisation and at IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences, attended the event and introduced FlexCrash as a key European project advancing vehicle safety by developing new approaches and technologies to design safer cars for future mobility needs.
Within the project, IMC Krems has developed the FlexCrash online platform which simulates real-time mixed-traffic scenarios, helping to identify critical traffic situations. The platform allows human drivers and autonomous vehicles (AVs) to interact in realistic simulations, offering insights into how these vehicles interface in varied and complex traffic environments, helping developers, regulators and traffic experts identify potential safety issues and optimize AV performance.
With over 300 attendees, the presentation received significant attention, reflecting a strong interest in automotive safety and innovation. The event also highlights the role of Austria’s Universities of Applied Sciences in contributing to international research and addressing practical challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration.
