On February 13th, the FlexCrash project took stage at the European RTR (Results from Road Transport Research) conference, an international meeting point for transport experts in Europe, celebrated in Brussels. The event showcased cutting-edge trends and achievements in road transport innovation, with a strong focus on enhancing safety and sustainability in mobility.
Representing FlexCrash, Christian Kurzböck from Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH, participated in the session “Materials for light and safe green vehicles”, alongside with FLAMINGo project. During his presentation, Kurzböck highlighted FlexCrash’s advancements in crash-tolerant structure, designed to withstand a wide range of impact angles and unexpected crash conditions. These innovations aim to redefine vehicle safety while maintaining lightweight and environmentally friendly designs.

FLAMINGo, a FlexCrash-sister project that reached its end, has proposed a novel industrial manufacturing route for the efficient production of high-performance lightweight aluminium composite materials thanks to a novel metallurgical and forming combined approach for making automotive parts.
The annual European RTR conference serves as a hub for research organisations, companies, and public administrations to exchange knowledge, accelerate the deployment of cutting-edge technologies, and drive the transition toward safer, more efficient, and sustainable transport solutions.
